Humpybong State School, the 164th Queensland State School, was established in 1876 and is proud of its history, traditions and contributions to the community.
The first 'Humpy Bong' School was opened on the 1st February 1876 on a site in Elizabeth Avenue near Duffield Road.
A new school close to the original site subsequently was built and replaced this school in 1878. The school continued in service until December 1908, when it closed along with the closure of the old Redcliffe Provisional School.
Humpybong State School re-opened on the present site in Ernest Street, in March 1909 with students from both of the older schools.
In 1959, Humpybong State School for Infants was established with Preschool, Year and Year 2 students, with Humpybong State School being the centre.
At that time Humpybong State (Primary) School catered for students from Year 3 to Year 7 until both schools combined in 1998.
In 2026, Humpybong State School celebrated 150 years of excellence in education.
