Subject areas

At Humpybong State School, we teach and assess the Australian Curriculum from Prep to Year 6. In 2019, all students learn English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, Technology (Design and Digital Technologies) and The Arts (Music, Dance, Drama, Media Arts, Visual Arts). Students from Years 2 – 6 also learn Japanese as their Language Other Than English (LOTE). From Year 3, students are exploring the Australian Curriculum in Civics & Citizenship. Where possible, we make cross-curriculum links to enable students to make connections between these areas.
Our team of specialist teachers deliver the Australian Curriculum in History and Geography, The Arts, LOTE and HPE, while class teachers deliver the other subject areas. Digital Technology is co-taught by the class teacher and our Digital Technologies Coach.
We have a strong focus on student involvement in learning. All students set personal learning goals in Reading, Writing and Maths, with the support of their class teacher. Students track these goals as they work towards achieving them. These goals are reported on during our Three-Way Reporting, where students, their parents and the class teacher discuss student progress.
See the relevant Year Level page for more information.
