Year 4

In Year 4, students are exploring observable changes. In History, they are looking at the changes to Australia brought about by colonisation, while in Science, they explore changes in lifecycles, changes to the Earth’s surface and changes caused by forces. In English, students develop their writing skills to write a traditional tale, informative report about a convict, persuasive text and book report, while in Maths, students work with numbers to tens of thousands.
Year 4 students will study Digital Technologies in Term 2, with our Digital Technology Coach and their class teacher.
The planned excursion program for Year 4 includes a visit by the  Goombuckar Indigenous Cultural Bus in Term 1 to learn what life was like pre-contact for Aboriginal Australians, while in Term 2, students will take part in Bike Ed at the Redcliffe PCYC.  Also in Term 2, Living History will visit to present a full day immersive History experience, while in Term 3, students will visit the LEGO centre to learn more about digital technologies. During Term 4, students take part in our Learn-to-swim program at the Redcliffe City Pool. More information about all these activities will be provided closer to the date.
The 2016 Year 4 curriculum documents are available for you to access. These include parent newsletters, information about excursions and parent information sessions, as well as English assessment tasks.
